Howard Herbert Hammer

Howard H. Hammer, 77, of Lakewood. Joined the Lord on September 10, 2007. Husband of Doris Hammer. Father of Vicki (Greg) Wambolt, Nick (Kellie) Hammer and Kathy (Mark) Jones. Grandfather of Dan Clark, Dustin Wambolt, Lisa Wambolt, Cole Hammer, Logan Hammer, Brady Jones and Ryan Jones. Brother of George Hammer and Asa Hammer.

Howard was born and raised in Union, Iowa. After High School graduation, he joined the Hammer Brothers Construction Company. He later opened his own television repair business. Howard married Doris Thurber on June 5, 1953 and they resided in Union, Iowa. In 1958, they moved to Denver, Colorado and in 1964 they purchased their home in Lakewood where they have resided for the past 43 years. Howard worked in the residential construction business until purchasing an appliance repair business in 1976.

His focus in life was his family and his church. He enjoyed building things with his grandchildren and remodeling the family home. He also enjoyed singing in the choir, being a leader in the Boys Brigade, and serving as a deacon. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and his greatest pleasure was being with them. Howard was a wonderful husband, a loving father, a caring grandfather, and a friend to many. All who knew him will miss him.

Visitation, Thursday from 5:00P.M. until 7:00P.M. at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home - West Metro Chapel.

Funeral Services, Friday 1:00P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Lakewood, 1380 Ammons Street, Lakewood, with Pastor Mike Eubanks and Pastor Dennis Noble, officiating. Mr. Hammer's grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The service will conclude at the Church, with a reception to follow.
