Ignacio Manuel Garcia

January 28, 1924 — October 11, 2021

Ignacio "Nash" Manuel Garcia of Lakewood, Colorado, was called home to his heavenly father on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the age of 97.

Nash was born in Ledoux, New Mexico, on January 28, 1924 to Juan and Josefina Garcia. He was orphaned as a young child and was lovingly raised by his paternal grandmother, Marcelina, on the family farm in Ledoux. Nash worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a teenager and embodied the ideals of "The Greatest Generation." He worked in the Boeing manufacturing plant and Naval Shipyards in Bremerton and Seattle prior to being drafted into the Navy where he honorably served as a Sonar Technician/Radioman aboard the USS Birmingham (CL-62).

At the end of the war, Nash moved to Denver, Colorado, where he met and married his life-long love Lucy Rose Gonzales. Together they raised their daughters Priscilla Marcella (Marcie) Gonzalez and Barbara Lucille (Lucy) Garcia. Nash worked at the Denver Mint and as a mail handler for the US Postal Service until he retired in 1976. Nash and Lucy spent their retirement years traveling and sharing in the ministries of faith. Nash was a faithful parishioner of St. Cajetan's Holy Catholic Church in Denver.

Nash was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Marcelina, daughter Marcie, great granddaughter Raechel, and wife Lucy. He is survived by his daughter Lucy (Richard), grandchildren Justine Gonzalez (Greg), Ray Gonzalez (Ruby), Tracie Gonzalez, Laura Pacoe-Garcia (Andy), Louie Garcia, Jeff Gonzalez (Corinna), 15 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren.
