Ingrid E. Hirst was born in Gleiwitz, Germany to Georg and Elfriede Ullrich.
Predeceased by parents, son, Thomas Ullrich, and siblings Gisela Elfriede and Wolf Ruediger. Ingrid is survived by husband John of 63 years, daughter Michelle (David), grandsons Alexander (Erin), Christopher, great-grandsons Tate and Brooks.
Ingrid was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She took great joy in her grandsons and her young great-grandsons. Ingrid immigrated to the U.S. in 1959 following sister Gisela. When John captured her heart, she made the U.S. her home. She visited her birth land frequently as John and Ingrid loved to travel abroad.
Ingrid was a voracious reader and throughout her life read two books every week. Additionally, she was a prolific letter writer and sent cards to family and friends often times weekly. During the pandemic, she took great care to send letters to her friends in the OWLs (Older, Wiser, Lutherans) group at her church to keep everyone engaged and informed.
Ingrid was a kindhearted lady and easily made lifelong friends wherever she went. She will always be remembered for her love and acceptance of all people, her love of animals, her generosity and her beautiful German accent.
