Irene C. Petrie

 Irene C. Petrie, a cherished soul whose kindness and humor touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at her home in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 20, 1932, in La Junta, Colorado, Irene embraced life with a passionate spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

For three decades, Irene dedicated her life to the noble profession of nursing, serving as a respected registered nurse at Denver Health Hospital, formerly known as Denver General. Her compassionate care and genuine support for her patients exemplified her deep commitment to the well-being of others. Many of her patients would remember her not just for her skill, but for her great sense of humor and the warmth she brought to even the most challenging days.

Irene was known for her kind heart and was very complimentary of those around her. She had a unique ability to lift others' spirits, often making them laugh with her witty remarks and playful demeanor. She was feisty yet kind, always offering compliments and encouragement to those around her.

In her personal time, Irene enjoyed simple pleasures that brought her joy. She loved shopping, sharing a glass of wine, and spending precious moments with her beloved daughter and grandchildren. Whether it was getting her nails done or enjoying laughter-filled gatherings, her vibrant personality shone brightly in every interaction.

Irene's legacy will continue on in the hearts of her family, including her devoted daughter Kathy, granddaughters Celina, Alexis and Carmen, and her adoring great-grandsons Averi, Henri, and Luca. They are left with wonderful memories of a mother and grandmother who nurtured their dreams and filled their lives with love.

Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband, LeRoy Petrie, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Their love story lives on in the memories of those who knew them, a testament to the bond they had and the strength of their love.
