Isaac Karl Post, 91 years old, known as Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle, Friend and Karl.

Born in Rexford, Kansas on August 2, 1926 to Lewis and Minerva Post. He had five siblings.

Karl resided in Rexford, KS; Oberlin, KS; McCook, NE and Denver, CO. Karl attended Decatur Community High School in Oberlin, KS.

Karl married Betty Peters in Stratton, NE when he returned from Germany. They had two children, Tom and Sharon. This marriage ended in divorce.

On December 26, 1957, Karl took Pat as his bride. They resided in Denver, CO and had three children, Don, Lori and David.

Karl resided in Denver for 64 years. He was a Denver Police Officer, and worked as a mechanic at O'Meara Ford.

Karl was a Protestant and prayed often toward the end of his life. He found great comfort by frequent visits from the Hospice Chaplain.

His hobbies included Racing at Lakeside Speedway, NASCAR (Martin Truex, Jr. was his favorite current driver), cooking, tinkering with cars, gardening, camping and C.B. radios.

Karl is survived by his four children, Tom, Sharon, Don, and Lori; his lady friend, Carolyn Largent; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his nieces and nephews, too numerous to list. Karl was delighted when his family visited him, and he loved it when he could keep up with his family on Facebook.

Karl passed from this life on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from natural causes at Broomfield Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Broomfield, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Minerva Post; his wife, Patricia; his son, David and his five siblings, Huber, Dale, Nila and Sylvia.

Karl was proud to have served his country. Karl was extended an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Private. He was honored to know he would be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery with full Military Honors.

When the war ended, Karl remained in Nuremburg, Germany. He was so proud to be a part of the Fumigation and Bath unit. His assignment was to help take POWs from concentration camps and give them showers and get them into clean clothes so that they could be processed to go home. His unit also cleared the underground bunkers where the enemy was still hiding! Karl was truly an American hero.

When he had R and R, he enjoyed touring Germany. His favorite place to go was Luxembourg. He said the mountains there were breathtaking.

In 2016, Karl attended the Rocky Mountain Honor Flight and visited the WWII Memorial. He was so honored by this experience that he couldn't speak of it without tears welling up in his eyes. This experience was cherished by Karl. He received his WWII Veteran Hat while on that trip, and he never left the house without it!
