Ivan Dean Houghton

Ivan Dean Houghton went home to be with his Lord & Savior on August 9, 2007 in Lakewood, CO. He was born to Earl and Nancy Houghton in Sherman County Kansas on October 20, 1927. The family moved to Idalia, CO where Ivan attended Idalia Public School for 8 years. The family then moved to Denver, CO in 1943 where Ivan graduated from Westwood High School in 1946.

Ivan joined the Navy in 1946 and served in active duty until 1948. He then joined the Navy reserves and retired after 20 years. He went to work for Mountain Bell, which was bought out by US West. He retired from US West in 1983.

Ivan married Alice Tinkey on August 21, 1949 and had three wonderful children. Ivan accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in 1952 and was baptized that same year at Westwood Baptist Church. He and his family became members of South Sheridan Baptist Church in 1969. The Church moved and is now known as Red Rocks Baptist Church.

Ivan is survived by his Wife Alice, his son Bud (Diane) Houghton, his daughters Debra Brancato and Della (Pete) Olson and one brother Dwayne (Carole) Houghton. Ivan is also survived by 12 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Rocks Baptist Church, Missionary Fund, 14711 W. Morrison Road, Morrison, CO 80465

Viewing will be Thursday August 16th from 5-8 PM at Newcomer Family West Chapel. Services will be at 10 AM on Friday August 17th at Newcomer Family West Chapel. Burial will be Crown Hill Cemetery. Visit www.newcomerfamily.com.
