Jack Lee Franssen Sr., 77, was born September 23, 1943 in North Platte, Nebraska to Pauline Beatrice (Alspaugh) and Leo Donald Franssen. He entered CU Health July 1, 2021, receiving Last Rites after two years of poor health and cancer. He died peacefully in his sleep July 5th 2021 in Aurora, Colorado.
He graduated high school in Broken Bow, Nebraska in 1962. Jack entered the United States Navy January 10th 1964. He took builder Class "A" school and became a Seabee NMCB ONE. He served tours in Cuba and Vietnam and received National Defense & Vietnam service medals and a Vietnamese Campaign Medal. Jack was honorably discharged January 9th, 1968. Following the Navy he was a mason and bricklayer. After retirement, he became a Master Gardener Leader.
He was preceded in death by both parents and step mother Lucille, his oldest sister Doris and husband Robert Eilerman. He is survived by his sister Deanna (Larry) of Larkspur, Colorado; his wife Sheila Franssen of Aurora, Colorado; children Paul (Kimberly) of York, Nebraska, Jack Jr. (Rebecca) of Grand Island, Nebraska, Larry (Amy) of York, Nebraska, April (Neil) of McCauley, Texas, and Steve (Rene) of Grand Island, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and one on the way; three step-sons, Wayne, Michael, James (Megan) and their two sons. Jack also has four step-siblings, Diane, Judy, Jacki and John; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
