Jacob Applehanz

of Aurora passed away Oct. 22, 2009. Preceded in death by his wife Lillie on Oct. 22, 2008. Survived by his daughter Jeannie (Jim) Stenger, granddaughter, Karen ( Brian ) Hanna, grandson Stephen Stenger, two great-granddaughters, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. While serving in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines, he received several ribbons and Bronze Star. After the war he worked for a construction company in Morocco for a year. He was a 4th Degree Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4079, also served as their financial secretary, and member of the John H. Redden Assembly. After retiring he worked as a volunteer at the Medical Center of Aurora for several years. His range of endless stories and jokes will be missed. Visitation will be held Mon. Nov. 2 from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm. at the Newcomer Funeral Home - East. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church 13670 E. 13th Place, Aurora. Interment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
