James Paul Aguilar

James Paul was born in St. Vincent's hospital in Indianapolis Indiana on March 22, 1958.

He is survived by his parents Fred and Phyllis Aguilar who reside in Denver and his sister Debbie who resides in California, and his many extended members of the Wainscott family in Indiana and other parts of the U.S.

Jim was raised in a military family. Throughout his youth the military took the family to many places and he ended up attending schools in Indiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Hawaii, and finally graduated from Kofa High School in Yuma Arizona in 1976. He later spent some time in the Air Force traveling internationally, serving primarily in Germany.

After serving in the military he lived for a time in Indiana to be near his extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. After his father's retirement from the Marine Corps, Jim ultimately settled down in Denver to be near his parents.

He was passionate about country and western dancing where he spent many hours on the dance floor and developed a number of lifelong friendships. He was an excellent dancer. He certainly loved the ladies and always had a line of them waiting for a chance to dance with the tall and handsome dancer.

In his spare time he spent his quiet hours building models. He probably built 50 or more over several years that included military fighter jets, and specialty cars.

He was a loyal friend and family man who enjoyed spending holidays with his family, especially Christmas. Every year he decorated his house and enjoyed sharing the Christmas spirit with his neighbors.

As his friends and family knows he had a big heart and was generous to a fault. If you ever needed anything, you could always count on Jim to be there and he would give you anything he could.

Beyond his friends and family he had a fondness for animals and always had a dog or two in his life, specifically a Doberman, which was his favorite breed. He enjoyed horseback riding and related to the cowboy life. One of his favorite songs was "I Should Have Been a Cowboy" by Toby Keith.

Everyone who came in contact with Jim knew he was a special and sensitive soul who left his mark on them. Throughout his 2 year battle with cancer he never wanted to be a burden. All he wanted was a peaceful life. We know it was tough on him to ask for help. But it was our pleasure to give back to someone who was always there for us. We are grateful to everyone who was there for him and know that he is now in peace, still watching over us.
