James Curtis, 85 passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in Arvada, Colorado. James was born January 1, 1934 to James Amos Curtis and Roberta Rebecca Curtis. He graduated from St. John High School.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Charlotte L. Curtis. They had five children: James D. Curtis, Debbie L. Curtis, Tony M. (Kim) Curtis, Patrick L. (Melinda) Curtis and Kenneth D. Curtis. James and Char have 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Gene, Kenneth and Bob; and sisters Nelle, Beth, Lorraine, Wynona.
James loved his wife, family, friends and work associates. He sought out adventure by exploring in the Colorado Rockies at every opportunity. Many weekends were spent camping and trail riding the in the mountains.
His tool and die maker career began in Wichita Kansas which lend to other aviation jobs at Martin-Marrietta and McDonnel-Douglas. He finished his professional career with IBM after 26 years of manufacturing engineering.
James loved his wife and kids very much.
Jim loved to travel to Hawaii, New Zealand, Alaska and the Southeast Continental United Sates. Hunting game animals and fishing as often as possible were his passion. He handmade a tote-goat in the mid-1960s which promoted a long-term passion for motorcycles, resulting in two excursions to Alaska.
Memorial services will be held, Wednesday, November 13th at 2 pm at 901 South Sheridan Blvd. Lakewood, CO.
