Jim Hobson, 94, of Englewood, CO, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on August 3, 2023. He was preceded in death in 2006, by his wife of 58 years, "Coupy" Hobson, who was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army during WWII.

Jim was born in Jacksonville, FL to Albert D. and Mary Jane (Goodwin) Hobson on December 9, 1928. Following the death of his mother in 1940, he moved to Denver with his father in 1941.

He attended schools in Pueblo, CO and Denver, CO. While working at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, he met his future wife "Coupy", who worked in psychiatric nursing. They were married at Galilee Baptist Church in Denver on July 10, 1948. In 1953, the family moved to Englewood where he has resided for 70 years. Jim was an auto machinist by trade, owning his own auto repair business and managing machine shops for other auto repair businesses in Denver.

He was a devoted husband and father who raised five boys and provided a safe, secure and fun setting for the neighborhood to gather and play. "Coupy" and Jim thoroughly enjoyed dancing, particularly square dancing, as active members of the Whirl-a-Ways, Cast-Offs and Mountaineers square dance clubs.

Jim loved jazz music and regularly attended performances at jazz clubs and concerts with his family. He supported the numerous sporting events and activities of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fan of all the Colorado sports teams and enjoyed going to Rockies games with his family.

He is survived by his five sons: James J. (Linda) Hobson; Scott W. (Janice) Hobson; Gerry D. (Phyllis) Hobson; Keith E. (Kathleen Clancy) Hobson; Richard A. (Anne Schulze) Hobson; 15 grandchildren: Michael (Shelli) Jorstad; Andrea Jorstad; Jennifer Montoya; Cindi (Daniel) Selvage; Amanda (Justin) Cesar; Lauren (Adam) Snell; Brett (Jessica) Hobson; Nicholas (Kat) Hobson; Tristan Hobson; Christian (Kara) Hobson: Kathryn Hobson; Derek (Brittany) Hobson; Victoria Hobson; Elizabeth Rozmovits and Jessica (Damon) Williams; 22 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister Wilma (Billie) Jean Howell (at age 99) of Midland, TX and his brother Jerry Charles Hobson (at age 88) of Redding, CA.

Viewing will be Friday, August 18 at Newcomer Family Mortuary, West Chapel, 901 S. Sheridan Blvd at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Area A, at 1:00 p.m. The family invites you to join us after the burial for a reception in honor of Jim at Newcomer Family Mortuary.
