James Kenneth Hart
1963-2009
Ken was born in Selma, Alabama to James O. and Norma Hart. Some of his childhood accomplishments were taking trips to the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch with Eagle Scout Troop 60. Ken attended Natchitoches' Central High School, graduating in 1982. He then attended Mississippi's Gulf Coast Jr. College, graduating in 1984. From there he went on to Louisiana State University, then Northwestern State University where he earned his B.A. in 1986, followed by his M.A. in 1995. Ken's passion was to work as an Archivist. He began his career working as a Museum Aid at Nez Perce National Historical Park in Spalding, Idaho. He then transferred to Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site in Williston, South Dakota, where he worked as a Museum Aid and Museum Technician identifying artifacts for the museum's collection. In 2004 he began working at the National Archives and Records Administration, Denver Federal Center, Denver, Colorado. Working as an Archives Technician, he performed maintenance activities on records as well as provided reference services supporting administrative tasks and goals.
The mountains of Colorado had become a special getaway for Ken and Martha. They always loved the outdoors, whether camping, hiking, bird watching or seeking arrow points for Ken's collection. Ken was married to Martha on April 23, 2009 in Golden, Colorado.
Ken is survived by his precious wife Martha Sue Bell Hart and her two sons, Christopher Bell and his wife Amalia, and Brian Bell of Arvada, CO. Also his parents, James and Norma Hart of Natchitoches, LA; brothers and family Charles & Lina Hart, children Sarah and Alex Hart of Chattanooga, TN; David and Ginger Hart, children Rachel and Michael Hart of Edmonton, Alberta. He was preceded in death by his brother Geoff and wife Christy Hart and daughter Rebekah.
Ken's generous and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him, but we are consoled by the belief that he rests in the arms of his Lord.
