James L. "Jim" Hibberd, 72, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away October 18, 2007 after an extended illness.
Jim was born to Ernest "Max" and Edith (MacTavish) Hibberd on December 23, 1934 in Rural Gibbon, Nebraska. He was educated in Rural Buffalo County Schools and worked as a Farm Hand in the area.
On September 19, 1953 he was united in marriage to Lucile Jager, of Grand Island, Nebraska. The couple moved to the Denver area in 1956. Jim was employed by Ryder Truck Rental for many years, retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in such activities as water skiing, camping, Jeep trips and hunting. Jim and Lucile were able to spend the first few years of his retirement traveling in their motor home across the United States.
Jim was a member of the Westminster United Methodist Church and the Westminster Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #2227.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lucile Hibberd; four children, Randall (Vicki) Hibberd, Tim (Shari) Hibberd, Candice (Randy) Earl and Kim (John) Biggers; five brothers and seven sisters: Marie (Harlan) Kring, Axtell, NE, Evelyn (Merle) Wuehler, Kearney, NE, Jerry (Donna) Hibberd, Milo, MO, Darrell (Viola) Hibberd, Kearney, NE, Larry (Darlene) Hibberd, Corinth, TX, Ruby Fisher, Beatrice, NE, Dennis Hibberd, Kearney, NE, Janet (Maynard) Hansen, Grant, NE, Jeanne Albright, Kearney, NE, Joyce (Ken) Bosshammer, Riverdale, NE, Robert (Joyce) Hibberd, Kearney, NE and Barbara (Larry) Wuehler, Kearney, NE; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glenn Hibberd.
Memorial Services, Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the NEWCOMER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - WEST METRO CHAPEL, 901 So. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado, with Rev. William Doran of the Broomfield United Methodist, officiating.
Memorial Services, Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the MILLER-GODBERSON FUNERAL HOME, Gibbon, Nebraska, with Rev. Dean Pofahl, officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Gibbon, Nebraska.
