James G. Madrid, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed peacefully on May 23, 2023 at the age of 91.
James is survived by his wife, Beatrice Madrid; his children Selene Madrid, Katherine Madrid, and Robert Madrid; his eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Ronald Madrid.
James was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, on May 1, 1932. He proudly served in the Second Infantry Division of the United States Army. He served as a medic in Korea for three years, and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Following 25 years of devoted service to the Federal Government, James retired to enjoy more time with his wife and grandchildren.
James was a devoted father and avid traveler. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, daily walks and bike rides around his neighborhood lake, and traveled throughout the country and around the world. He made sure to attend every graduation, recital, wedding, and family gathering. He enjoyed crafting and woodworking to gift to friends and family.
James never turned down a tasty looking pastry. James and his wife were apart of an intense bowling league, enjoyed Sunday drives together, and often found themselves enjoying a good game of bingo. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
