It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of James Milton Hamaker, of Aurora, Colorado, on May 31, 2021, at the age of 71 years.
He was born August 6, 1949 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, the son of William Carl Hamaker and Ila Forest (Hughes) Hamaker.
He spent his early years in southern California, where he used to tell stories of taking his dad's pickup for a spin. His dad's coworkers would see a truck drive by without a head and tell his dad, "I think your son took your truck again!" His family moved on to Crawford, Nebraska in 1963 where he spent the rest of his teenage years. He moved to Colorado in the early 70's and spent much of his life in Aurora, Colorado and worked as a drywall finisher and a truck driver.
Jim enjoyed golfing, classic cars, and rooting for the Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhuskers. He could walk into a room and come out with many friends. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He also enjoyed going to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Aurora, Colorado to play Bingo. He would call right away to let you know if he had won.
Jim is survived by Son, James Hamaker (Lisa), Jr; Daughter, Jill Scott (Thomas) and mother of his children, Barbara Hamaker; grandchildren Devin, James III, Matthew, Austin, Brandon, Kara, Jessica and Briana; several great grandchildren; sister and brother, Donna Roby (Gary) and Bill Hamaker (Phyllis) and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by daughter, Shelly Baird (Rick) and his parents.
A short graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 am, at St. Simeon Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Aurora Eagles Club.
