James "Jim" William Shugarts

June 1, 1965 - January 17, 2024

Jim Shugarts, [58], passed away on January 17, 2024, in Thornton, Colorado. He was born on June 1, 1965, in Denver to Charles and Beverly Shugarts, the last of eight siblings.

He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was an admired and respected marketing and advertising leader at Media News Group and the Denver Post for many years. Jim loved music and attended many concerts to his favorite groups including The Who, Van Halen, BB King, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and many more. He appreciated the company of good friends and good food, he loved traveling, golfing, skiing, and spending time with family. He especially enjoyed taking his Mom out for happy hour margaritas at her favorite restaurants. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, well-timed jokes, personal anecdotes, and being someone people could confide in, relate to, trust, admire, and love.

Jim is survived by his brothers; David (Amy), John Paul (Benita), Robert, Charles (Denise); his sister Elizabeth, and sister-in-law Cathy; his nephews; Nicholas, Eric, Aiden; his nieces, Angela, Miranda and Lisa; as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly and Charles, and by his brothers, Christopher and Mark.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, 10 am to 12pm at the Newcomer Mortuary West Metro Chapel 901 S. Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226. Friends and family are invited to attend.
