Jane Carolyn Walker, 98 of Centennial, CO passed away from natural causes on November 27, 2023. Graveside funeral services and interment will take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 2:30 pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area C.

Jane, the daughter of William Willis and Miriam Rowan was born in Berlin, NJ. She married Fred A Walker, Jr in 1949. Jane was predeceased by Fred and their daughter Janell.

Jane, a World War II veteran, along with her twin sister Joan joined the Women's Army Corp (WAC) in 1945, serving until 1948. Jane and Joan were selected as part of a military team to travel the South Pacific introducing and modeling new uniforms for servicemen and women. Together, over a period of four months they traveled over 41,000 miles to every location in the South Pacific where military troops were stationed. Following these travels and this part of her Army service, Jane was assigned as a medical technician at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO where she met Fred in 1947.

Along with Fred, who was a 31-year career Army Warrant Officer, and their beloved daughter Janell, the Walkers traveled the world, living in Germany and Okinawa, along with stateside assignments including Texas, North Carolina and Colorado. Jane and Fred cherished their military friends, meeting with them often for dinner and travel for many years following their retirement in Aurora, Colorado.

Travel remained a lifetime joy for Jane and Fred. Jane was also an avid skier, spending many winters with her family skiing Vail Mountain in Colorado. Jane enjoyed golf, including play on the Fitzsimons and South Suburban Ladies' Golf Leagues, as well as traveling with friends from The Sandblasters, a social group of men and women amateur golfers helping the Shrine Hospitals to raise funds while playing golf.

Jane and Fred were active in the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children through their work with and membership in the Denver, CO El Jebel Shrine.

Jane is survived by her sister, Bunny Smith of Savannah, GA, nieces and nephews Nancy Harrison (George), William Devereaux (Charlotte), Thomas Devereaux (Diane), MaryAnn Sobieski (Richard) and Linda Reamy. She was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister Joan Lydick, her brother William Willis, Jr, her sister Helen Devereaux and her niece Frances Luscko.
