I bring sad greetings from the Green Dragon,
It is my sorrow to inform you all that my lifelong partner Janet Rose Seybert has passed.
I can still remember the day, February 7th 1944, when she was born in Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
I'll never forget those days when I would curl up in the yard and watch Janet and her big brother John doing chores around the yard especially those days when that pond needed to be cleaned. She always hated that.
It seemed like a flash of time as she went through her grade school years and then was off to college. I was so very proud of her as she finished all of her many college degrees with the pinnacle being her degree in law.
I was very surprised when she changed her career from being a teacher to joining the Marines to practice law. However, when I stopped to think about it, I'm not sure there could be a better fit for her then to take on the mantle of a warrior. After nine years working with the Marines the time came for her to take our services (because what could she ever do without me) to the Air Force for another 10 years and 7 months. We saw the world together in those days but aside from back in the U.S.A., our favorite place to go was the orient. I mean, seriously, those people really know how to treat a dragon. They were nice to Janet too.
I remember the faces of all of her friends and family who thought they had her pegged in a box and then she graduated from clown college and became part of the Colorado Clown Association. To make sure she kept everyone off balance she was also not only part of the American Business Women's Association but was named, on multiple occasions, as one of the top 10 business women in America. At all times she fought for women in business and women in the military. One dear friend has recently described her personality as "unfiltered". I've always thought that her middle name was perfect. Like a rose, her nature was beautiful, but if you weren't careful her thorns would cut. There was never a fight she ran from nor a need she left unfilled.
As fate had it, she was destined to fight the unwinnable battle. It was toward the end of her military career that she contracted Muscular Dystrophy. We knew that someday this disease would win, but there was never an ounce of surrender in her, and she battled every day until the very end. I could never be prouder of the strength and character that she displayed during this time.
Finally on August 16th of 2022 she succumbed. I know she has left a piece of her heart with her brother John Seybert, her Nephew John Thomas Seybert and his children, and the countless friends that have been left behind. You all can rest assured that she is happy now as I have put her on my back, spread my wings, and we have left for our final flight.
So for the final time;
Zhai'helleva = Wind to your wings.
