Janice Marie Carlisle, 86, of Denver, died on February 10 at the Sunrise of Pinehurst Assisted Living Center. She was born in Mangum, OK to James and Bernice McGinn on October 4, 1935. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Sayre High School and married her husband Lloyd, soon after. They were married for over 65 years. She worked as a teller in a bank and helped Lloyd finish college as they started a family. She went back to college herself at Southern Methodist University, when they moved to Grand Prairie, Texas in 1967. She graduated with a teaching degree and taught 3rd and 4th grades for many years before retiring.
In 1974, she and Lloyd helped start Grand Prairie Bible Church with a close group of friends. They served and worshiped there until they moved to Denver, Colorado in 2014.
She was also very involved in Bible Study Fellowship with many friends while living in Texas. She loved going to Canton, Texas for First Monday to shop for antiques and craft items. She and Lloyd enjoyed traveling to England, Ireland, and other European countries with groups of friends.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents James and Bernice McGinn, her youngest brother James McGinn and her husband Lloyd. She is survived by her brother Gary (wife Erma), her son Greg (wife Susan), daughter Cindy (husband Doug), grandchildren Kaylee, Connor and Corey Skelton and Wes and Kori Powell.
A graveside service will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver on 3/9/22 at 11:00 am.
