Jean Arlene Balderston, 89 passed away peacefully on March 26, 2020 at Porter Hospice in Centennial, Colorado.
Jean was born on September 16, 1930 in Lawrence, Kansas to Raymond and Geneva Snell. Jean had 7 siblings: Thelma, Francis, Betty, Rex, Joyce, Vivian and David. Jean met her husband of 73 years (Lawrence Balderston) at a carnival in Lakewood, Colorado in 1945. Lawrence (Larry) "got fresh" and pulled her swing over for a kiss. It all started with a kiss…a lifetime of love and a legacy of a big wonderful family.
Jean and her husband raced stock cars from 1955-1970. Jean won many races and was the Powder Puff champion in 1959 and 1960. Jean was a fierce racer, and some said the only thing that could stop her was "the stork". One of her favorite things to do was holding and loving on babies. Racing runs in the family and her grandson (Brady) is still racing with the "family number" 57 on his car.
Jean was the beloved wife of Lawrence B. Balderston and much-loved mother of Larry, Gene, Richard, Kelly, Brad, Tracy and her late son Raymond. She was the feisty mother in law to her late daughter in law Marsha, her daughter in laws Kandy, Vicky, Lori, Michelle and son in law Keith. She was a loving grandmother to Kelly Nicole, Mike, Wendy, Justin, Vicky, Felicia, Jessica, Brian, Nick, April, Ashton, Brittny, Jesse, Brady, Kayla, Sydney, Ian, Tristan and Dillon as well as a great grandmother and great-great grandmother to many.
Jean lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker and will be dearly missed by many.
