Jeannine Solum Perry (Jeanne) went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at ninety-four and a half years old, outliving all her siblings. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on December 8, 1928, to Arthur Dwight and Minnie Agnes Childs, the sixth of their eight children.
Jeanne married Glenn E. Solum on August 6, 1950 and moved to Southern California where she had six children (four of whom are still living). Glenn and Jeanne had almost thirty-eight years of marriage when Glenn went to be with the Lord on June 10, 1988. After spending a year in Austria (1992-1993), Jeanne relocated to Colorado. In 1999, at age 70, Jeanne married Vernon A. Perry and was married just over thirteen years when he went to
be with the Lord on April 7, 2012.
Jeanne was a pastor's wife for almost 38 years and she was known for her strong faith in God. That faith was evident in her infectious smile, her enthusiasm for life and in her excitement to be in heaven, reunited with all her loved ones. Jeanne's greatest joy and passion was her children, grandchildren and great grands. She always looked for opportunities to share her faith, and she will be most remembered for being a woman of prayer.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Minnie; her first husband Glenn and second husband Vern; two daughters, Connie and Carmen Solum, one granddaughter, Whitney Kelsay; one step-son, Bob Perry, one step-grandson, Chad Harvey, seven siblings and spouses: Kathleen (Coleman) Peters, Mac (Geraldine) Childs, Harriet (Frank) Johnston, Rose (Max) Yeley, Bill (Donna) Childs, Mary Jo (Mark) Harvey, and Jerry Childs.
Jeanne is survived by four children: Bruce Solum, Karen (Steve) Metzger, Colleen (Jim) Mead, and Kay (Barry) Moore, one step-daughter Caryl Ann (Charlie) Harvey, two sisters-in-law: Gail Childs and Marilyn Solum, eight grandchildren: Mindy (Allen) Cagle, Jeff (Meredith) Metzger, Chris (Kaci) Metzger, Tyler (Rachel) Mead, Amanda (Jake) Bolejack, Melanie (Mike) Hutton, Chase Kelsay, Cassidie (Cody) Cravey, and step-grandchildren: Travis Moore, Shawna (Doug) Bergstrom, Rochelle (Shannon) Buchannan, Sarah (Greg) St. Martin, Michelle (Terry) Reeves, Matthew and Marques Harvey. She is also survived by many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.
Services to be held at Tri-City Baptist Church on Saturday July 8, 2023, at 1 pm. The Church is located at 6953 W 92nd Lane in Westminster, Colorado. Jeanne will be laid to rest with her first husband (Glenn) in the Riverside National Cemetery, located in Riverside, California.
