Jennie L. Avis

Jennie was born on January 8, 1944 in Dodge City, Kansas. She moved to Denver shortly after. She always joked that she "had to get the Hell outta Dodge"!

Jennie grew up on the Northside of Denver, and until her last days, always shared the History of Denver's NORTHSIDE. She graduated from Denver's North High School in 1962 and married Ronald Avis on December 8, 1963. She always worked and was always the main provider of the family. Despite the loss of a child 2 days after his birth, all her illness', bouts with cancer and other health issues, Jennie was very devoted to her Faith and the Lord.

Jennie is survived by her daughter Denyse, Denyse's husband Paul and her son Jason. She also has three grandchildren, Meghan, Morghan and Dahlton, as well as two great-grandchildren Bentley and Robert, that she absolutely adored. Jennie left behind two very dear sisters, Jude and Betty, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Jennie was preceded in death, by Ronald, her husband of 48 years, her son Rex, her parents, her brother Leo, aunts, uncles, cousins and very close friends.

Services are being held Friday, July 29, 2022, at Newcomer East Metro Chapel located at 190 Potomac St, Aurora, Colorado 80011. A viewing will be held at 9:00am with services beginning at 9:30am. There will be a light lunch reception immediately following the service. Interment will be at Olinger's Evergreen Cemetery located at 200 E 168th Ave, Broomfield, Colorado 80023. The family welcomes you to attend the portions that makes you most comfortable.

Jennie didn't want flowers at her funeral, she wanted to smell them while she was alive, and not after joining the Lord (her words). If you plan to attend her services, there is NO dress code. She wanted everyone to be comfortable and to celebrate her life, not mourn it.

She will be greatly missed!
