Jerry Lee Lyon was born on May 6th, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan and died on November 17th, 2019 in Aurora, Colorado at age 71. Jerry was the second oldest child of four born by his parents Cleophas Hayward Lyon and Alice Juanita Lyon.
Jerry began school at Western Michigan University in August 1966. During his schooling, Jerry was drafted by the United States Army in 1970 and was stationed for 18 months in Korea. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Jerry completed his education receiving a Bachelor of Science in April of 1973. Jerry had majored in Mathematics and obtained a minor in Biology. Shortly thereafter he traveled to London, England to become a student-teacher. In the early 1970s, he moved to Hotchkiss, Colorado. Soon after, he lived in Glendale, Colorado where he taught high school math classes in Westminster where he would meet his future wife Donna Gleghorn. In 1982, he began to work at the United States Postal Service. During his time at USPS, he was heavily involved in the American Postal Workers Union. Jerry bought his first and only home with his wife Donna Lyon in 1989 in Aurora, Colorado. Jerry retired from the USPS in December 2016. He lived in Aurora, Colorado until his death in 2019.
Jerry Lee Lyon is survived by his wife, Donna Lyon; sons, Jarrett Lyon & Shawn Garner; mother, Alice Demos; brothers, Gerry Lyon & Terry Lyon. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cleophas Lyon and sister, Rita Moffit.
