Jerry M. Correia

Jerry Correia, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend passed into spirit on February 26, 2011. Jerry will always be remembered for his caring heart, his laughter and his ability to make others laugh, his wit, his dedicated work ethic, and his love for his family and friends.

He was born on November 6, 1943, in Palo Alto, California to Mildred Mendoza Correia (deceased) and Manuel Correia of Sunnyvale, California. He graduated from Mountain View High School, married Sharyn Lee Privitt, his wife of 46 years, and went to work for Hiller Aircraft in Mountain View and then for Stanford Applied Engineering. He was offered a job with Seiko Circuits as Director of Sales in Denver, Colorado and relocated there with his family. The family then moved to the Western Slope of Colorado, to Montrose, where he and his wife Sharyn owned and published the weekly Olathe Hub and Party Line Shopper. He was very active in community events in the Montrose and Olathe communities.

Jerry and family returned to the Eastern Slope, where he opened his own business, Electrofab, and was very successful for several years. He then sought a change of career and joined the Property and Evidence Unit of the Aurora Police Department as a Property Technician, where he worked for 13 years. He was a much admired and dedicated co-worker and considered an indispensable asset at the Evidence Warehouse.

He was a former member of the Littleton Chapter of the Elks Club and was a member of and served as an officer in the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 1992, in Aurora. He was very proud of his affiliation with the American Legion and spent tireless hours raising funds to support Veterans and other charitable groups.

Jerry was an avid fisherman and smelt jumper. He loved the outdoors, playing games and barbequing. Spending countless days at the beach with family and friends was a favorite pastime. He was always helping others and finding ways to put a smile on someone else's face to brighten their day. He was always there to support, uplift and be there for anyone in need. His greatest joy was being with his family and the many friends he made over the years. He will be remembered for his laughter, his ability to make other people laugh, and his willingness to be there for others.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharyn of Aurora, CO, his son, Michael Correia and wife Allie and two grandchildren, Sarah Grace and Mitchell Anthony Correia of New Braunfels, TX. He is also survived by brothers Manuel Correia of Poulsbo, WA; Tom Correia and wife Susan of Sunnyvale, CA; and sister Judy Collins and husband John of Bremerton, WA, and nieces and nephews.
