On Sunday January 2nd, 2022, Jesse Benjamin Avila, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and friend passed away at age 81.

He was born to Roman Avila and Charlotte (Quintana) Avila on September 2nd, 1940, in Denver, Colorado. Jesse graduated from Regis Jesuit High School and received his bachelor's degree from Regis Jesuit College in Denver.
On August 25th, 1964, he married Margaret (Peggy) Cecelia Scheehser. They raised two children, Michelle Foster and Christopher Avila. In their retirement years they raised prize-winning cockatiels on a grand scale. Jesse served in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 21 years of service.

Jesse was mostly known for his story telling among friends. He could turn any run-of-the mill day into a fantastic story made for novels. He could also fix anything that was broken, never lacking the right tools for any job. He had dual careers. He served as a supply officer, during his active-duty years with the Navy, and as a reservist he had a career in the General Services Administration rising to the position of Field Office Manager for Federal Buildings around the Country. His last post involved managing all the federal buildings in Alaska.

Jesse was preceded in death by his Loving Wife of 57 years, Peggy, Father & Mother Roman,& Charlotte Avila, and Brothers Henry, Peter, & Victor. He is survived by his Daughter, Michelle Foster, Son, Christopher Avila, three Grandchildren, Sydney Cain, Alex & Evan Avila, his Niece, Margaret Fuentes and Nephew, Matthew Ostberg, as well as many nieces, nephews & cousins, Sisters Laura Avila of Erie CO, Mary Ann (Roger) Wisehart of Broomfield, CO Brothers Roman of San Jose CA, John (Dona) Avila of Pomona CA and Sister-in-Love Nancy Avila of Colorado Springs Co.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 25th, 2022 at 1:30 PM on the Air Force Academy grounds in the Community Chapel, located next to the Bowling Alley 10ABW/HC

A private graveside service will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
