Donald "Jim" Sondergard
Donald "Jim" Sondergard was born December 28, 1928 in Conde, South Dakota to Virgil C. Sondergard and Lenore Dale (Melton) Sondergard. After his folks moved to California he stayed back on the farm in Conde, SD with his Aunt Ena and Uncle Frank McLeod. After completing high school Jim went on to serve in the US Army from 1946 – 1948 and was honorably discharged. He then went on to college and became a teacher in Lennox, SD. He continued on to become a counselor, principal and superintendent. He retired from his teaching profession in Edgemont, SD in 1994.
On May 29, 1951 he married Lois Ann Strome and was married for over 59 years. Jim enjoyed golfing, playing pool, playing cards, walking, gardening, working in the yard and camping with his family.
Survivors include his wife Lois, 5 children, Don Sondergard of Hot Springs, SD; Barbara (Bill) Duncan of Colorado Springs, CO; Susan (Jiri) Krofta of Simi Valley, CA; Pat (Randy) Scheppmann of Littleton, CO; Dean (Marie) Sondergard of
Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
Everyone who knew Jim appreciated that he was a very kind and honest man and touched all peoples lives that he came in contact with. He was always true to his word and could be counted on in his professional and family life.
Jim was a wonderful man who was loved very much by his family and will be sadly and forever missed by all of us.
