Joan Ann Redler, 66, of Aurora, CO, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, CO.
Joan Ann Redler was born February 3, 1944, in Morton Mills, IA, the daughter of Anton (Tony) J. Freund and Helen D. Zimmer. She was raised on a farm near Lewis, IA, graduated from Griswold High School, and worked in Atlantic, IA. She was united in marriage to Leroy Redler on November 16, 1963, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. Joan and her husband moved to Aurora, CO, in 1972 where they ran their own construction company, Midwest Erectors Inc., until their retirement.
Joan was a member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Aurora. She was very active in her husband's business and a fantastic homemaker. Joan was a great cook and baker and everyone loved stopping by to visit. Her house was "home" to all that knew her.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Redler, and Mary Ann Carroll, both of Aurora; and a son, Scott Redler and his wife, Valerie, of Aurora; three grandchildren, Brianna and Brandon Carroll, and Shawna Redler, all of Aurora; four sisters, Jean Gerschermann of Placerville, CA; Sherry Stodolski and her husband, Neil, of Spearfish, SD; Carole Lowe and her husband, George, of Aurora, CO; and Julia Freund of Denver, CO; her brothers, Tony G. Freund, Jr. and his wife, Rhea, and Michael (Mike) Freund and his wife, Debbie, all of Lewis, IA; four sisters-in-law, Marilyn Freund of Atlantic, IA; Linda Freund-Ebbinga of Griswold, IA; Carolyn Kinsella and her husband, Tom, of Omaha, NE; and Linda Redler of Marne, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Dwaine Redler and his wife, Mary, of Omaha, NE; as well as 39 nieces and nephews.
Preceding Joan in death are her parents, Tony and Helen Freund; her husband, Leroy; a son, Mark Redler; two brothers, Charles (Chuck) Freund and Jack Freund; a sister, Mary Lea Freund; her father- and mother-in-law, Albert and Pauline Redler; and two brothers-in-law, Heinz Gerschermann and Byron Redler.
The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, at St. Pius X Parish (13670 E. 13th Place; Aurora, CO 80011) with Father Steve Adams officiating.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Monday, March 15, followed by a visitation with the family at Newcomer Funeral Home, 190 Potomac, Aurora.
The family is suggesting memorials to St. Pius X Parish or to the family for their designation at a later date.
