On Monday, April 20, 2020, Joe Frank Chavez passed away at the age of 85. Joe was preceded in death by his father, John, and his mother, Genevieve. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Jovita, his daughter Anita Perez (Patrick), and sons Arthur Chavez, Bruce Chavez (Ruby), and Mike Chavez (Angelica); 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was born on March 18, 1935 in Pueblo, CO to John and Genevieve (Montez) Chavez. Joe grew up in Salt Creek where he met his wife, Jovita. On October 3, 1957, Joe married Jovita Tienda. Together they raised one daughter, Anita, and three sons, Arthur, Bruce and Mike. Joe worked as a crane operator at a steel mill, from which he retired after 30 years. He later became a self taught automobile mechanic. He continued to grow his skill set as a mechanic for the next 30+ years, fixing vehicles for so many.
Joe enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He had a God given talent for restoring and fixing cars of all sorts. Over the years Joe grew interests in car racing, boxing, and numerous other sports.
Joe will be remembered for his unconditional love of family, passion for cars and love for watching boxing/UFC fighting.
Joe will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
