Joel David Wine, 65, died February 5, 2007 at the Highland Healthcare Center in Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was born May 28, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to U. S. Air Force Col. Leonard Wine and Bessie (Stevenson) Wine. His childhood years were spent in Nebraska, Colorado and Puerto Rico. After graduation from High School, he spent six years in the U. S. Navy.
He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Colorado before joining Freeman Decorating Company, a full service exhibit/contracting company with whom he was associated for 31 years. For 25 years Joel was the General Manager of Freeman's branch in San Antonio, Texas. Upon retirement in 2004, he moved to Bella Vista as he loved the wooded hills and natural beauty of nortwest Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Mary Kathryn "Kathy"; two daughters, Rachel Ann Fowler and son-in-law Rick and their two children, Megan and Sam of Cedar Park, Texas; and Sarah Rae Deyo and son-in-law Jeff and their daughter Aubrey, who live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two step-sons Jim Watson and his wife Crystal and their daughters Taylor and Bethany of Mannford, Oklahoma and Gregg Watson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three brothers and their wives, Len and Jo Wine of Rocky Ford, Colorado; Dan and Marne Wine, of Westminster, Colorado and Gary and Betty Wine, of Woodland Park, Colorado.
A Memorial Service will be held in Bella Vista, Arkansas. An additional service will be held in Denver, Colorado on Monday, February 12, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home - West Metro Chapel, for members of the family, followed by Interment in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "B" at 11:30 A.M.,in Denver, where his parents are interred, with Military Honors by the U. S. Navy and the All Veterans Honor Guard.
