John Jay Birdsong

October 2, 1961 — July 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Birdsong, a man whose kindness, generosity, and love touched everyone he met. John will join his father and mother, Bob and Shirley Birdsong and brother Allen Birdsong who previously passed. John left this world on July 18th, 2024, but his spirit, laughter, and legacy will remain with us forever. He is survived by his siblings, Bob Birdsong (Terri Birdsong), Lark Birdsong (Julie Brisson) and Lisa Birdsong (Sheryl Wasinger) and his nieces and nephews Rob Birdsong, Kristy Kincade, Nicole Birdsong, Easton Wasinger and Riley Rowles-Birdsong as well as his grand nephews and nieces.

Born on October 2, 1961, John was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and loved, whether through his gentle smile, his thoughtful gestures, or his endless supply of generosity that never failed to make anyone feel loved.

John's love for his family was unparalleled. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, traveling and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. From family vacations, holidays, to day trips John was the heart of our gatherings, where everyone felt included and loved by John.

Everyone loved John and has vivid memories associated with how he colored their lives with his smile, laugh and enthusiasm in caring for others. Every little kid knew he was their friend and he was fun 🤩.

Traveling was one of John's many passions. He had a zest for adventure and a curiosity about the world that took him to the far corners of the globe. Whether it was exploring nature, cruising on boats, or simply relaxing on a beach and driving the golf cart in the Bahamas, John embraced every experience with enthusiasm, wonder and appreciation.

A sports enthusiast, John could often be found cheering on his favorite teams with fervor. His passion for the game was infectious, and he loved sharing it with his friends and family. Whether it was the Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets or other teams he loved, he cheered them on and never had an unkind word if they lost; “They will do better next time.”

He medaled several times in the Special Olympics, loved fishing with family and was a great assistant coach for the Bird Oil softball team with his dad who coached the women on the team. When not coaching, John played in a softball league with his friends from DDRC.

Music was another of John's great loves. He had a knack for finding the perfect song for any occasion, and his eclectic taste in music was a reflection of his vibrant personality. John's playlists were the soundtrack of many cherished moments. He loved Elvis, The Beach Boys, July 4th music and so much more.

John's love for animals was well-known. His home was filled with the joyful barks and purrs of his beloved pets, and he had a special way of connecting with all creatures, great and small. His compassion for animals was a testament to his generous and loving nature.

When he moved to Golden Pond he delighted when Tigger the cat would escape his neighbors unit and come visit him in his room. “No rush Tigger” to go home he would say to Tigger. He loved his life at Golden Pond and became his own man while living their. He helped in any way asked and became a favorite helper and friend.

John's life was a beautiful melody of love, laughter, and adventure. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a wealth of wonderful memories. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.

In honor of John, we invite you to share your favorite memories and stories. Let us celebrate the life of a man who brought so much joy and love into the world. If you wish donations can be made below.
