John "Jack" Darrell Christensen, 79, passed away November 5, 2010. The son of Darrell S. Christensen and Jenny Prosen, he was born in Edmonton, Canada on January 18, 1931.
He grew up in Denver and Las Animas. John graduated from Bent County High School in 1949. John then attended Denver University School of Business and graduated in 1953. He served in the Korean War with the United States Marine Corp from January 1954 until November 1955.
John went to work in 1955 for Packaging Corporation of Americas and had a successful career as a salesman for 30 years. He loved gardening and had quite a talent for producing wonderful vegetables. His flower garden was nothing short of spectacular. John also loved the outdoors and was a talented fly fisherman. He particularly loved Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. After his retirement, he loved traveling with his beloved wife Kathryn. They saw all of the European and Scandinavian countries. They particularly enjoyed Australia and Africa. They made many wonderful memories together as they traveled the world.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell & Jenny, his brother Bill and his wife Kathryn. He is survived by his daughters, Sherri Christensen (Steve Allison) of Sedalia, Debra Sisk (Gene) of Keller, Texas, step-children Lisa Sandoval (Bobby) of Arvada, Steve Sullivan (Veronica) of Oklahoma City, Mary Sullivan (Jeff Graham)of San Francisco, grandchildren, Brooks Reale, Bailey Reale, Taylor Graham, Katherine Sullivan, Victoria Sullivan, Elizabeth Sullivan, Bryan Sisk, Andy Sisk and Craig Sisk. He is also survived by his brother Gene Christensen (Dottie) of Las Animas and Mary Forsyth of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private Services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
