John Robert Green

Passed in peace Friday September 2, 2022 at the age of 83. Preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his father and mother, Harry and Annie Green and his sisters Margaret (Ron) and Genne (Lynn).

A husband, father, Opa, brother, and friend like you is rare, one that is so generous, smart and kind. A wonderful person like you is what everyone needs, full of smiles and laughter, always doing good deeds. There is nothing that can replace a special individual as you, but we know when you arrived in Heaven, God was lucky to have you.

Born in Rickmansworth, England as John Robert Smith, mother Annie married Harry Green and relocated to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where the family grew in nearby Edgar Springs. John was soon adopted into the Green family.

John graduated high school and joined the Navy in May 1957, after a distinguished career, then retired from active duty in the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in September 1975. Along the way, John met and married the love of his life Barbara in October 1969, who soon gave birth to Dennis November 4, 1970. Upon retirement from active duty in May 1975, the family relocated to Colorado and John continued his civil service duties with the U.S. Air Force at the Lowry Air Force Base Finance Center, until his final retirement in April 2000.

John's hobbies included Colorado professional sports teams, traveling and he especially loved karaoke with friends at TREA Chapter 39.

John is survived by brothers Joe (Margie Antel-Green), Michael (Jan), and Stephen (Ashley), and sister Mary Ann Hance.

Also survived by his children David (Sherry), Nanci, Donald (Cheryl) and Dennis. Further survived by his grandchildren Brian (Rebecca), Marcus, Heather, Joshua, and Matthew, as well as great grandchildren Hunter, Ryleigh, Arianna, Peyton, Leylah, Mollie, Savannah, Stella, Ashtyn and Amelyah.
