John Benito Lucero Sr. (Benny) was 74 born on March 1, 1949, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He was a proud Colorado Native. He grew up in a big family with many brothers and sisters. As a young man, he served in the United States Marine Core during the Vietnam era. Then served in the reserves for 5 years. After returning home he moved to the Denver area where he later married and had children with his ex-wife Beverly Vigil. He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. He started his career out as a CDL truck driver, working for the United States Post Office. Then proceeded to a career as a Barber. He was a skilled Barber of 27 years and opened a Barber Shop (Bert's Edgewater Barber Shop) in Edgewater, Colorado. His hobbies included working on cars, watching movies, and enjoying a cup of coffee. But we can't forget that he enjoyed his occasional trips to Black Hawk.
He is survived by his children Tina Romero, John Benito Lucero Jr., Benique Lucero, Jennifer Lucero, and also stepdaughter Kelley Deffert. He was also survived by his companion Sandra Deffert for many years. He leaves behind his tribe of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his huge family including his Brothers, Sisters, Nephews, Nieces, and many friends.
His presence and kind soul will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever. We will cherish the moments shared with him and carry his hard-working values forward with love and gratitude.
