John Lunn

John Edward Lunn, 89 of Denver, passed away at Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home on December 28, 2010.


Services on January 14, 2011 at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:00, Staging area A.


John came to Denver in 1947 as Principal Trombone for the Denver Symphony. He remained with the Symphony for 25 years and left due to illness. He designed and build two homes in Denver and Bow Mar and taught at Lamont School of Music at the Denver University.


Many Christmas's were spend donating his time to play Christmas Carols at Denver area Hospitals with fellow musicians.


Prior to coming to Denver, John served in the Navy, first as a Navy Air Cadet and then as a musician in the Navy Band in Portsmouth, VA. He attended Curtice Institute of Music and also played for the New York Philharmonic in NY City.


John is preceded in death by his dear mother, Mabel, father, George Ephraim Lunn and brother, George William. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Lunn of San Carlos, CA and her four children. He had three children, Bud, Pam and Brad, and nine grand children. He enjoyed reading great novels and writing and drawing. For the past 7 years he enjoyed living at Libby Bortz Assisted Living Center in Littleton where he had many friends, both residents and employees. He was cared for by a wonderful team of professionals at the VA's HBPC for which he is eternally grateful.


John will be greatly missed by his friends and neighbors. (I love and will miss you, Dad. Pam)
