John L. Christopherson
Born in Hubbard County, Iowa January 1, 1922 to loving parents Alfred and Maggie Christopherson. He was the youngest of six children. Preceding him in death are his mother and father, brother Mike, twin brothers, Lee and Lyle, two sisters Mina Irene and Louise Irene, and his son, John Paul.
John is survived by his wife Deloris, one sister Katherine Christenson, Minn., his first wife, Simone Christopherson, and children, Daniel A. (Anne) Christopherson of Greenwood Village, daughter Francine Bowen (Thomas) of Las Vegas, Nevada, his daughter-in-law MAria, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, extended Sportsman family all of Metro Denver, and a host of relatives and friends.
John's youth was spent in Story City, Iowa where he shoveled tons of snow from around the church grounds, he worked at the Lake Comer resort where he helped raise gold-fish for commercial sales, he worked at the B.C. Vold grocery and the McGrath Furniture Store where he learned to lay carpet, flooring and tiles.
John moved his family to Boulder, Colorado where he continued installing carpets, was a traveling salesman promoting new bowling alleys for AMF and Brunswick, later working for the A.R. Wilfley & Sons as expediter of the sand and gravel centrifugal pumps they built. His last employment was with the "Tools for Bending" Corp., now located at 194 W. Dakota Ave.
John served 3 years in the U.S. Army with the 99th Infantry Battalion (Sep), which was an American-Norwegian group that trained for the service at Camp Hale, CO., and served in the European Campaign.
He was a member of the "Sons of Norway" for many years, current member in the "Norsemen of the Rockies", and "The Ole Goats", a fraternal organization dedicated to the preservation of the Rocky Mountain Goats in Colorado.
After his health forced his retirement, he and Dot with their little dachshund "Tiny" travel extensively to many states, plus Mexico, Canada, Prince Edward Island and Hawaii.
He spent many hours in his shop where he made silver jewelry, woodwork, and lots of interesting projects.
