We are here to celebrate and honor the life and love of John Henry Marshall. On Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the age of 80, John entered into his final slumber to await the Resurrection.
John, the first of 8 children, was born on April 29, 1938 to Hubert and Laura Marshall.
His life's work of service to his country and community began when he joined the United States Air Force at the young age of 17. After 29 plus years, John retired from the Air Force a veteran with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He continued his service to our country working with the Federal Office of Minerals Management Service for an additional 10 years before formally retiring from the government. He was also a savvy entrepreneur, including janitorial and catering services, and was well known for his BBQ.
In his later years John developed a relationship with Jehovah, and dedicated the rest of his life to serving God as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 9, 2011. As a Ministerial Servant, John enjoyed working in field service and took delight in helping others learn Bible truths. He continued to enjoy those privileges until his death.
John met, and then married the love of his life, Mary Ann Williams, on July 9, 1982. John had a deep love for his family and took great pride in providing for them. Because he believed strongly in honoring family history, John was instrumental in organizing the Dodd Family Reunions for the last 40 years.
John leaves to mourn: Mary, his loving wife of 36 years; his 6 children John Marshall Jr., Darryl (Tonette) Marshall, Lamont (April) Williams, Todd (Linda) Williams, Tuana (Marcus) Roberts and Taiwan (Tanya) Marshall; his 4 siblings Norva Maurice (David) Barnett, Maudie M. Evans, Marvin (Pearl) Marshall, Jeffrey (Mary) Marshall; and his 2 uncles Tommy L. Marshall and Allen Marshall; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relative and friends. John is preceded in death by both parents, 3 sibling and 1 son (Mike Green).
After a long period of illness John will be laid to rest. He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
We await the fulfillment of John 5:28-29 and Acts 24:15 when the dead will rise again.
The family would like to thank you for your prayers and support during this troublesome time.
