John McClellan Dale, 86, of Aurora, passed away April 3, 2021 at home on Salem St.
John was born June 24, 1934 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of Gilbert and Arna (Pursell) Dale. He lived in Liberia for several years as a child. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder and master's degrees from Colorado College and the University of Colorado in Denver. On August 18, 1958, he married Frances Anne Bruner Dale, of Aurora, where they lived many happy years together.
John worked in many capacities during his long career in the Aurora Public schools, including teacher, reading specialist, administrator, tutor for homebound children, and countless volunteer positions.
John is survived by two daughters, Libby (Susan) Dale and Sara Dale; four grandchildren, Delaney Dale, Carter Erickson, Evie Peters, and Emmett Wells; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Erickson and Savannah Banks; daughter-in-law, Lynnae Stevens; as well as a host of family, friends, and former students. He is preceded in death by his wife Anne, and son, John Edward "Jed" Dale; his parents and brother Gilbert.
