BUTLER, John Richard – age 81, born April 26, 1925 passed away with family at his side on Wednesday January 3, 2007. John was born in Denver, Colorado to Archie D. and Mary E. Butler.
He is survived by his companion of over thirty years, Hazel Umstead and his sons and daughters-in-law, John "Steve" Butler and Sally Sanchez, Rick and Patti Butler, his daughter and son-in-law Debbie Lynn and Jimmy Smith, also his adopted son and daughter-in-law Clifford and Jan Umstead (Butler). In addition John leaves behind six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. John was always a dedicated and loving father.
John proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Jackson as a gunners mate in the Pacific.
He followed his father's trade as a Union Plaster retiring after forty years of dedicated work in the Colorado area.
Hunting and fishing were a few of his favorite past times with his sons and son-in-law up on the Gore Pass.
John kept fit by his daily swimming routine at a recreation center and enjoyed reading western novels. He was one of the Denver Bronco's biggest fans.
