John Samuel Meech, 72, of Aurora, passed away September 5, 2019.
He was born July 3, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Harry and Lucille (Kern) Meech. He was a graduate of Calumet High School in Chicago in 1965. He received his Associates Degree in Interior Design from San Diego City College in 1972.
John honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
On December 19, 1971, he married Mary Jane White in San Diego. This was home for well over 30+ years. John's love of the ocean, mountains, and desert never left his heart. But granddaughters stole his heart and he and Mary Jane moved to Denver, CO to be closer to family.
As a child, John liked setting up fish tanks and collecting fish. In later years, he enjoyed woodworking, tinkering in the garage and antiquing and restoring furniture. He was an avid horticulturist. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping and road trips in the United States. He loved not only loved listening to music but also discussing the past experiences related to the songs.
John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Jane Meech; daughter, Adrienne L. (Dave Foster) Meech; son, Colin J. (Renee Paris) Meech; two grandchildren, Lillian I. Foster and Annalise M. Foster; sister, Karen Knudsen; step-sister, Carolee Carter and several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by father, Harry K. Meech and mother, Lucille J. Meech.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Miramar National Cemetery,
5795 Nobel Dr. San Diego, CA 92122 . A Celebration of Life will follow graveside services in Poway, CA.
