IN LOVING MEMORY
Jose "Pepe" Valdez passed away at his home peacefully and surrounded by his family on March 16, 2024. He was 94 years old. He's survived by his 8 children: Guillermina, Patricia, Hector, Argelia, Yolanda, Javier, Maricruz and Imelda; 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Pepe was born in Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico on August 29, 1929 to his late parents Sisto Valdez and Francisca Medina. In his very early years and after losing his mother, Pepe served as an altar boy at a catholic church in his town to be able to survive. As a young man, and after losing his father, he learned how to play guitar and became a musician.
He married his wife Librada "Lala" Arenas in Mexico in 1955. She predeceased him 11 years ago and he's now reunited with her in Heaven! Minnie (his dog) was his companion until she also passed away a couple of years ago. He moved his family to Colorado in 1978 and he loved going fishing, camping and hiking in his younger years. He and Lala were both huge Rockies fans as well and loved going to a game once in a while.
He played guitar and sang as part of a trio group at restaurants and other venues in Denver. It was his passion in life and his happy place!
Pepe was a loving, strong, determined and independent man who taught his family to always do the right thing and to do things right. He lived his entire life fighting for, protecting and guiding his children and he was so proud of the family he had raised!!
He also worked in construction and other lines of work until he retired. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time at home with Lala, gardening, listening to his trio music and he continued playing and singing way into his early 80s! All his already married children live in Colorado so they visited and bbq'd or celebrated with Pepe and Lala every single holiday throughout the year!
Pepe lived a life full of challenges and fought many battles but he never gave up. He fought until his last breath! All his courage, will power and sacrifices have been rewarded and now, he gets to live in Heaven with his Viejita!
Rest in Peace Papa, Abuelo and Bisabuelo. Please watch over us from up above. You will live in our hearts until we see you again!!
WE THANK YOU and WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
