In Loving Memory of Joseph "Roger" Cordova
Joseph "Roger" Cordova, 92, of Denver went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2022.
Roger was born April 25, 1930 in Trinidad, Colorado to Manuel and Anna Cordova. He is the 2nd child born and oldest son of the 14 Cordova children. His siblings looked to Roger for his leadership, strength, and support. Being a big brother was one of his greatest joys. He grew up to love the outdoors in Colorado; however, he left his home at a young age to join the Air Force in 1949 where he proudly served our country.
Shortly after joining the military, Roger married his sweetheart, Perfidia Zarate, and they started a family. He was a creative and ambitious man who built a thriving business called Linda Vista Painting & Decorating. Using his God-given gift, he shared his knowledge and mentored many others to be successful in the industry. His success was highly regarded among his commercial clients and was well-known in the community for the quality and character of his organization.
Roger and Perfidia had a total of six children. They are Linda Cordova, Joseph Cordova, Mary Jane Cordova, Ruben Cordova, Victoria Cordova, and Peggy Cordova-Underwood (Jim). As life changed, Roger and Perfidia decided to go their separate ways. Years later Roger married Maria Arguello and they had a son, Roger Cordova (Bobbie).
After a hunting accident that left him partially paralyzed, Roger gave his life and his heart to the Lord. From that day forward, he has never waivered in his faith. He raised his son, Roger, as a single father and served the community and his church. He shared his testimony and God's goodness with his family and anyone he could get to listen to him. Roger wanted everyone to know about Jesus.
Family was everything to Roger. His father died at a young age forcing him to fill that void for his brothers and sisters. He loved to teach his children about the value of work and education. He shared his love for the outdoors with the entire family through road trips, camping, fishing, skiing, and hunting expeditions. Roger loved life and lived it to the fullest. He is known for his laughter, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor. He wanted to make everyone he encountered smile and had a collection of jokes for every occasion.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents (Manuel & Anna), brothers (Manuel Jr., Anthony "Sonny", Richard "Jess", and Robert), sisters (Theresa and Lorraine), and son (Ruben). He is survived by his remaining children, brothers (Jake and Jim), sisters (Dolores, Christine, Betty, Minnie, and Patricia). His commitment to faith and family continues through his 15 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. His beautiful legacy continues…
