Joseph Bernard Vigil, more affectionately known as "Butch", was called home by his parents on the 23rd of January 2023.
Butch was born on the 19th of March 1947 to parents Fidel and Lucretia Vigil. He is survived by his siblings Ruth Napoli and Chris Vigil. Butch was a native of Colorado, where he grew up with family throughout the state from Walsenburg to Denver. He had a strong connection to Colorado and would often share with friends that his family was one of the first 100 families to settle in Colorado.
In 1965, Butch enrolled in the Navy. He served our country as a Stock Clerk Petty Officer. During his 4 year enlistment on the island of Guam, Butch gained many life experiences that he would continue to share with friends and family throughout the years.
Returning to Colorado after his service, Butch began his professional career within the trucking industry. He excelled in his career and earned many trophies and accolades proving his abilities. A few of his crowning achievements include: One Million Miles of safe driving, Driver of the Year and most notably winning the state championship as well as participating in the National Truck Driving Championship in Minneapolis, MN in 1997.
In his 30's Butch's life was made more colorful with the addition of his three wonderful children: Jason, Joey and Kellie. He shared many of his personal hobbies with his children which they continue to enjoy to this day including: model building, drag racing and movies. Butch and his children also enjoyed hiking all the trails Colorado has to offer as well as camping.
Butch will be fondly remembered by his siblings, children, many grandchildren other family members and friends.
A service with honors will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 3:00pm on Friday February 10th 4400 W Kenyon Ave. Denver, Co 80236.
Following services a reception to celebrate Butch's life will be held at his local American Legion Post 17 from 5-9pm. 1901 N. Harlan St Edgewater, Co 80214.
