Josh Almanza, 34 of Denver, Colorado passed away January 4, 2019. He was born October 19, 1984 in Denver Colorado the son of Rayann and Luis Almanza.
He graduated from Arvada West where he began his love for videography through Warren Tech. He started off by video recording his friends skateboarding, editing them, and creating movies. After High School him and his girlfriend Kelly decided to move to California where he began to work for Giant Skateboard Distribution and Circa Skateboard Company as a skateboard videographer.
As a young adult he was able to travel the world and visit over 25 countries working as a videographer. When all that came to an end him and his girlfriend Kelly at the time decided to move to Portland, Oregon, they were ready for something different and to live somewhere new. After their adventure in Portland they decided they wanted to travel so they sold everything they had and went on a road trip to California, Arizona, Colorado, Alabama and then flew off to Costa Rica where he fell in love with an area called Uvita. After a month there they went back to Birmingham, Alabama where he lived on a farm with his girlfriend Kelly and her family called Shangri La with 15 dogs, 5 cats, 3 donkeys, a horse, a sheep, a goat, ducks, and around 200 chickens.
While living in Alabama he went to Jeff State and The University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was ultimately studying to become a holistic doctor. He made new friends, played with the animals on the farm, worked at jobs where he could utilize his knowledge and passion for wellness and spent any free time learning as much as he could about health.
He was very passionate about whatever he chose to do and put all of his heart into it, not to mention his competitiveness. He loved to workout, play basketball, go bowling, skateboard and play pool. He was a foodie in every aspect and could make something amazingly delicious out of nothing. He could talk about nutrition for hours and loved reading the latest research and peer review journals on all studies pertaining to nutrition and how the body functions. If you wanted to know what to eat to help with any issue you were having, he was the best person to talk to. He was so knowledgeable and knew all the facts and research to back up what he spoke about.
Josh had one of the biggest hearts and smiles and touched so many lives. He had this charisma about him that just drew people to love him. He had such an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, try new things, and meet new people. He loved experiencing anything new and had such a thirst for knowledge, always wanting to learn and grow as a person. He knew no matter what he did he could always count on our mother's unconditional love and support from her.
Josh's most recent adventure began when he started dating his girlfriend Brittany Berkley and she became pregnant with their baby girl due April 20th. Josh was nervous, just as any new father would be but everyone that knew him, knows he would have made the most amazing father and would have loved his little girl more then anything. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, and nephew. He always gave hugs, kisses, and said I love you. His legacy will continue and the light he shared with so many of us will continue to shine on with those that loved him.
Joshua is survived by his mother Rayann Almanza, sister Ashley Almanza, Grandmother Nettie Costillo, niece Bianca, Nephew Jacob, his girlfriend Britanny Burkley and their soon to be baby, his aunts, Michelle Trujillo and Rosie Torres; his uncles Fred Costillo, Larry Trujillo, and Herman Torres.
