Juan Cervantes Becerra, a man of faith and a loving family man, passed away on December 23, 2023, at the age of 84 in Denver, Colorado. He was born on May 30, 1939, in Los Tanques, Guanajuato. Juan's greatest accomplishment in life was his family.
He was a dedicated father to Francisco H. Cervantes Apolinar, Juan A. Cervantes Apolinar, Paulina Kearney, Claudia Cervantes Ramirez and Maria Del Rayo Cervantes Apolinar. He was also a cherished grandfather to Francisco Cervantes Jr., Samantha Cervantes, Gabriela Cervantes, Juan A Cervantes Jr., Stephanie Cervantes, Rachel Cervantes, Marcela Cervantes, Jonás Eliu Cervantes, Yaritzi Miranda, Katrina Esparza, Maria Paola Rivera Cervantes, Úrsula Rivera Cervantes, Carlos A Ramirez Cervantes, Ezequiel Ramirez Cervantes, Uriel Ramirez Cervantes, and Daniel Rodriguez Cervantes.
Additionally, he was a beloved great-grandfather to Nikki Cervantes, Joseph Montoya, Josalynn Montoya, Jayden Cervantes, Anamarie Cervantes, Artemis Miranda, Isabelle Cervantes, Veronika Ramirez, Mackenzie Ambrose, Arianna Ambrose, Emmanuel Rosas Rivera, Marcela Janeth Rosas Rivera, Valeria Rosas Rivera, Daniela Rosas Rivera, Bryan Alfredo Rivera, Amalinda Cervantes, Oziel Cervantes, Jaclyn Cervantes, Lizette Salgado-Zavala, Jezeya Cervantes, Dominic Cervantes, Diego Cervantes, Morning Star Cervantes.
And a caring brother to J. Guadalupe Cervantes Becerra
Juan was predeceased by his beloved wife Lydia Apolinar, his cherished daughter Iliana Cervantes Rivera, his parents Estanislada Becerra and Jacinto Cervantes. His sisters Margarita Cervantes, Francisca Cervantes and Antonia Cervantes.
Juan had a fulfilling career as a Flecha Amarilla driver and became a certified diesel mechanic in later years. For many years he was part of the "invisibles", janitorial crew who worked night shifts to keep the city of Denver buildings clean. Was a member of SEIU 105, where he advocated for the rights of those in search of a better life. In his pre-retirement years, he became a lay minister for the Lutheran church, serving his community with love and devotion. He was admired and loved by his church community, family, and friends alike. Juan's warm personality, strong faith, and dedication to his loved ones left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Outside of his work and ministry, Juan enjoyed spending quality time with his family. Had great love for all his grandchildren. He had a passion for gardening, finding solace and joy in nurturing plants. He also loved driving and exploring new places, being of guidance and inspiration to venture in his beloved Mexico as he so often did with wife, friends and family alike. Juan found comfort and inspiration in reading his bible, deepening his faith and finding guidance in its teachings.
Juan Cervantes Becerra will be remembered as a loving grandfather, a devoted family man, and a pillar of strength in his family and community. His legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know him.
