Juanita Jean Gottlob, 88, of Lakewood, CO, went to be with our Great God (YHWH) & Savior on Thursday March 29, 2018. Juanita was born one of 14 children (9 girls, 5 boys) to the late Harvey and Mary Helene (Carlton) Porter on August 24, 1929, in Wichita, Kansas. Being from such a large family you can bet there were lots of laughs. Before graduating high school, Juanita met this gorgeous hunk (her words) named Dale (Ernest Dale Gottlob) whom she promptly married on November 8th, 1946. Then in June of 1948 they had their first baby, a girl they named Peggy Jean. Next thing she knew there were 6 boys added to the mix and it was 1960. And during all this time they bounced around from Kansas, where Peggy and Steve were born, then Dad joined the military (Navy then Air Force), to Savannah, where Marty was born, to Little Rock, Arkansas, back to Savannah, where Paul was born, then to England, where Neil and Jeff were born, & then to Amarillo, TX, where David was born. With this big group we were never at a loss for laughs as well as heartache. Mom spoiled us as often as she could and Dad loved it too! Unfortunately, Mom and Dad were a terrible mix genetically, with Peggy, Neil and David all being born with Cystic Fibrosis, which can only be passed on if both parents are carriers. We lost both Peggy and Neil when they hit puberty and through it all Mom was still the rock that kept us steady. Mom maintained 3 squares a day, was always grocery & clothes shopping & of course our personal wound mender. Mom never complained and was always the hard-working home-maker, seamstress, cook, taxi driver, listener, confidant and advice giver. She would bend over backwards for us, even though at times we weren't the best-behaved and the dreaded wooden spoon would appear! And she always made time to make the best chocolate chip cookies and brownies – YUMMMMM! Mom, aka Grandma & Great-Grandma was always ready to fix anyone a meal when they showed up, offer a bed to sleep in and do their laundry. Mom was the epitome of selfless LOVE in everything she said and did, yeah sure she had her faults, but she always asked for forgiveness and offered forgiveness. We know this was a direct result of putting her trust in the Lord as Savior in 1979. She loved to attend and serve at church and enjoyed bible study and singing hymns. Mom also became a mighty prayer warrior and wanted to see all her family one day there in eternity together worshipping the Lord. We already miss you dearly Mom and can't wait to join you in eternity with our God & Savior! We will probably need our own little section in the choir, so save us seats, Mom! See you there!!!
Juanita is survived by 5 sons, Steven Dale, Martin Ray, Paul Allen, Jeffery Michael, and David Carl. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 (+1 on the way) great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband Dale, her daughter, Peggy Jean, her son, Neil Stanton, and several of her own siblings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ( https://www.cff.org/RockyMountain ).
