Judy Marie Mitchell, 72, of Aurora, Colorado, returned to her heavenly home and loving husband on December 25, 2018.
Judy was born May 16, 1946 in Hayfield, Minnesota to Nordeen and Eva (Schultz) Fosse. She attended Hayfield High School until she graduated in 1964. Growing up Judy was very close with her sister Marlene and cousins. They would go bowling after church and have fun just being together. Judy's father owned some school buses and when she was old enough Judy would help out with driving, using blocks on the pedals so she could reach.
After graduation, Judy started working in Owatonna at an insurance company until she decided to go with some friends that were moving to Colorado. She met her husband Bill at the apartment complex where they both lived. They met through their roommates and the rest they say is history. They married in 1972, the same year Bill was honorably discharged from the Air Force.
Judy loved to play the piano. She was also active with her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, for many years. Judy was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling with Bill and her children. Judy and Bill were also part of a dog sledding team, both sharing a love of animals, something they were never without. She loved to sing in the choir at church as well as karaoke. Judy was also devoted to her family, being a Cub Scout leader for her sons' troops and driving her children to various activities, soccer practices and games. They took many family vacations and camping trips together. She cherished the time that she spent with her children and later grandchildren. Judy also loved to drive in her "yellow banana." Her smile and infectious laughter will be missed.
Judy was married at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church and raised her family to love and know God. Her children and all 4 grandchildren were baptized in the same church. She helped with Sunday School, Youth Group, Bible Study, Women's Group and sung in the choir.
Judy is survived by her 3 children, Brian (Denise), Michael (Courtnee) & Stephanie; 4 grandchildren, Kelsey, Gavin, Beau & Hadley, all living in Colorado; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill; her father and mother; her sister, Marlene and daughter, Jennifer.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to University Hospital Foundation either to the Cancer Center Fund or the Transplant Program Fund. Donations can be made online at UCH-Foundation@uchealth.org .
A private burial for the immediate family will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Services will be held at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 am with a reception to follow.
