Junia Mitchell Ker, 75, of Parker, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, after facing complications related to a recent stage four cancer diagnosis. Junia was born on February 8, 1949, to Reba and Shirley Mitchell in Weiser, Idaho as the youngest of 8 children. Junia was preceded in death by her parents, five of her siblings; Rex Mitchell, Connie West, Jay Mitchell, Eula Sinden, and Dennis Mitchell, and three of her children; Brett Ker, May Ker, and Jeffrey Ker. She is survived by her sister Valene (Dale) Dalley and her brother Voyne (Jan Washington) Mitchell as well as her children Richard Ker, Michael (Sara) Ker, Randy (Amie) Ker, and Krystal Souza, and her 19 grandchildren.
Even though Junia was only 3.5 pounds as a premature infant, she had a feisty spirit that would help her thrive, and coupled with a healthy sense of humor, this feistiness would accompany her throughout her life. Junia was known for her tender heart and giving nature. One of Junia’s favorite pastimes was when her children invited their friends over and she was able to feed them warm, home-cooked meals. Junia loved being around others, and if there was a party, she would move mountains to be there. Junia deeply loved her family and was most happy when she was surrounded by them. Because of her loyal and caring nature, Junia had many long-lasting friendships that she gained strength from and valued till the end. Junia’s unwavering faith in our Heavenly Father and in the Savior was evident throughout her life, and in her final hours when she wasn’t cracking jokes, the thing she wanted most urgently to do was to speak with each of her children and grandchildren and to fervently encourage them to cling to the Lord and His gospel. We have comfort in knowing that mom has been reunited with many loved ones, and we will miss her dearly, until we meet again.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Junia’s daughter. https://venmo.com/u/KrystalSouza
