Katherine F. Padilla

Katherine F. Padilla, at the age of 93, passed away on August 19, 2018 at her home in Denver. She was the widow of Solomon J. Padilla. They shared 42 years of marriage together. Katherine was born to Miguel Sambrano and Sophia Garcia Sambrano in Hotchkiss, Colorado. She graduated from St. Francis Catholic School in Trinidad. She mostly served as a homemaker for her husband and family and she was the matriarch of the Padilla family.

Katherine is survived by children, Loretta Corporon (Alan), Richard Padilla (Renee), Michael Padilla, Sophie Padilla (Wayne), 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and our pet 'Whiskey' as mom would always say.

Katherine was a member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Tihen Ladies Auxiliary: Colorado State Ladies Auxiliary 1985-86, Vice President 1986-88, President 1988-1990, Historian 1990-1992, corresponding secretary 1996 -1998.
Material things, people, and money come and go but your memories last a lifetime. Sometimes we waste time worrying about everything that means nothing, while neglecting everything that really means something. Katherine loved spending time with her family. She had a sense of humor and enjoyed all the wonderful caregivers that blessed her life: Patricia, Stephanie, Andrea, Loretta, Raynell and Samantha. In the past month or so, Namaste Hospice team gave mom a touch of class and exceptional end of life care. Gratitude, love and much thanks to Amy, Donna, Amanda, Debbie, Cathy, Tara, Laura and Latasha, Jacqueline and Chris. My family appreciates all your love and exceptional care you showered upon our mother Katherine. She loved each and every one of you.

The viewing/visitation will be held Wednesday August 29, 2018, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home. The funeral will be held 11:30am on Thursday, August 31 at Newcomer Funeral Home. The shelter service will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 1:15pm, Staging Area C at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Meet at the Staging Area by 1:10pm.
