Kathy has a husband Gary for over 60 years, a sister, 2 children (Don and Jerry) and 3 grandchildren (Ryan, Jason and Marissa). She is survived by only Gary, Jerry and Jason.
Kathy was born in Wichita, KS July 20, 1942, she passed December 9, 2020 in Littleton, CO.
Kathy's dad had a furniture store for most of her earlier years. After the store was closed he went to work as a supervisor for a large construction company which resulted in the family making a lot of moves. So Kathy attended a number of schools while growing up. They ended up in Santa Fe, NM which is where Gary met her through a church friend who also had a cabin on the Pecos River outside Santa Fe. After Gary finished his six month boot camp with the marines, he returned to Albuquerque and began to date Kathy as they had stayed in contact via letters. They went together awhile then quit. Gary went to work for the telephone company and a few months later Kathy's dad was transferred to Albuquerque and Kathy got a job as a secretary at the phone company. Gary and Kathy started dating again and were married in Albuq. Sept. 2, 1960. Their 60th anniversary was this year.
The phone company transferred Gary to Denver in 1966 and their transition to the Denver area as "home" began. Gary was transferred to Bell Labs in NJ on a 3 year rotational assignment in 1970. They became very involved in a Baptist church and made many friends while in NJ, and they still have contact with 3 of them.
After returning to Denver they joined Bear Valley Baptist Church where they became very involved. Kathy was the church financial secretary and treasurer for 20 plus years. Kathy also gave speaking engagements to various groups who still comment to this day how they appreciated her talks. Many good friends came from that time.
Kathy was a very talented person and was willing to take on anything. When Gary was on a weeklong business trip she built book shelves on an entire wall of their den. While on another business trip Kathy expanded their patio by using old pallets she took apart. She used skills she had learned from her father, along with her constant go get 'em attitude that always had her doing some project.
Kathy is a good musician. She can play the piano and guitar. She likes to play, but not for other people. She would play church hymns or classical music. She could learn a song by ear. She could just listen to a song then could play it on the piano or guitar.
She was a great mother, raising Don and Jerry and participating in their school events, helping them with homework, praying for them, and providing a positive home environment. She was a great Grandmother as well, and enjoyed being with her grandkids and spoiling them.
Kathy was a fabulous wife too. She worked at improving the marriage, going to couples retreats and always providing love. She was uplifting, supportive and Kathy & Gary took many great trips together.
She was a very social person and enjoyed visiting with others. She was a great host for get togethers of many kinds. She had a good since of humor. She was a wonderful friend, mother, grandmother, and wife.
