Kathryn Karford
May 9, 1965 – Feb 19, 2023
57 Years Old
Kathryn Karford, 57, passed away peacefully February 19, 2023, among family and friends. Kathryn was born on Mother's Day 1965 at Swedish Hospital in Englewood, CO. She was the 4th of Jack and Barbara Karford's 5 children. She grew up in Bow Mar, CO and enjoyed lake-centered summers swimming, catching fish, and hanging out with friends. Trying to keep up with her older siblings was a theme, as were family trips skiing in the mountains and in Idaho.
She graduated Littleton High School in 1983 and thereafter attended BYU, where she majored in Communications, wrote for the Daily Universe school paper, and did a semester abroad in France and a PR internship in Manhattan. After college she moved to Los Angeles and got her foot in the door at GCI/Grey Advertising's PR subsidiary as a receptionist, later becoming an Account Manager. She loved living in Santa Monica and cruising Pacific Coast Highway. She considered California her second home and visited there frequently.
In the early 90's she moved back to Colorado and worked as a Product Manager for US Bank. A few years later she joined Noel-Levitz, a higher-ed education consulting firm, and stayed there for 24 years, eventually becoming Vice President. She loved the natural beauty of the front range and how the state represented the best parts of East and West. Keeping active with different sports and workout classes, traveling, and driving her BMWs were a few of her favorite activities. She was proud to be both a cat and dog person. Above all, she loved time with her family and serving others however she could. She had a strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of 24 1/2 years, Vernon Kercher, and by her children L.B. Ek and Christopher Kercher. She is also survived by her 2 sisters, Debra Brown and D'Ann Karford, her brother Fred Karford, and her mother Barbara Karford. She is preceded in death by her father Jack Karford and her brother Jeff Karford.
Memorial services will be held Saturday February 25th at 10:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10209 W Coal Mine Ave, Littleton, CO, 80127. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to make donations to LDS Humanitarian Services or the charity of your choice.
